33rd Meeting of the River Basin Management Expert Group of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River

The 33rd Meeting of the River Basin Management Expert Group of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (ICPDR RBM EG) was held in Odessa on 18-19 April 2011.

The main issues discussed during the 33rd RBM EG meeting were:

  • Further implementation of the Joint Programme of Measures in the framework of the Danube River Basin Management Plan;
  • The Danube River Basin Adaptation to the effects of climate change;
  • Hydropower in the Danube River Basin; updating of the Sediment Issue Paper; interconnection between EU Water Framework Directive and European Flood Directive in terms of their implementation in the Danube River Basin District.

The meeting involved about 30 participants from Danube River Protection Convention countries: Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Ukraine, and the European Union.

The 33rd RBM EG Meeting was held in Ukraine in the framework of the Ukrainian Presidency over the ICPDR in 2011.

The meeting was organised by the ICPDR Secretariat and the Centre for Regional Studies and supported by the Odessa Regional Council.
